About the SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation

The SHIFT Centre for Social Transformation supports existing and emerging social transformation initiatives that unite the efforts of Concordians and their partners with the goal of creating a more just, inclusive, and broadly prosperous Montreal. At SHIFT, we see social transformation as an intentional process of systemic change to address not only the symptoms but the root causes of inequity, injustice and unsustainability.

 

Description:

SHIFT is seeking a creative, welcoming and detail-oriented individual to assist with the communications of the SHIFT Centre. The selected candidate will support the Learning & Storytelling Lead in generating content to meaningfully engage the community and increase SHIFT’s social media presence.

 

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Learning & Storytelling Lead and Events & Operations Assistant, grow and maintain SHIFT’s social media presence by creating visuals and promotional material for social media (posts, short videos/reels).
  • Work with the Learning & Storytelling Lead to produce and edit video content, as part of a longer storytelling series on community engagement and social impact
  • Collaborate on the social media calendar with current and recurrent content
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships online
  • Stay up to date with social media trends

 

Profile:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with diverse groups of people
  • Knowledge of community engagement and alignment with SHIFT values (Justice, Reconciliation, Reciprocity, Sustainability, Groundedness, Collaboration, Courage, Humility)
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Comfort with social media—Facebook and Instagram (Meta Business), and LinkedIn
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently
  • Graphic design skills–proficient with Canva; Photoshop and Illustrator, an asset
  • Basic video production skills
  • Functional-level of French

 

Assets

  • Visually creative with a desire to grow and strengthen a personal aesthetic
  • Experience managing social media accounts–Facebook and Instagram (Meta Business), and LinkedIn
  • Proficient with Premiere Pro
  • Comfortable with flexible schedule (usual work hours are 9-5 on Monday to Friday, though filming may occur outside of these times)
  • Comfortable asking for help when required
  • Knowledge of and strong interest in trends and dynamics in social justice field
  • Fluency in French

 

 

This role will mostly be conducted in-person, primarily on Concordia’s downtown campus, with some

occasional hybrid work.

Hours – 10 hours/week. The work schedule will be determined in collaboration with the successful candidate.

Pay Rate – $22 per hour
